Have you ever wonder why most women are attracted to the odor of musk? It was said that despite to be it's unpleasant scent it has the effect of heighthening and increasing the persistence of smell from floweres. That is why Musk was considered a valued fragrance chemical and is used in many perfumes and deodorants.
A lot of us do not know that Musk is a scent secreted from the scent glands of the male Tibetan musk deer, musk ox, civet cat, otter and many other species. Musk is used as a pheromone to attract and impress the females of the same species. A pheromomen is a chemical messenger that has an involuntary biological effect on other members of the species. If secreted by female moths can attract males from several kilometers away. This probably the reson why human produce pheromones.
